Green house dreams

Hello all garden lowers

We have been planning for a greenhouse sins the moment we bought the loot. In the initial plan garden plan was there also a greenhouse planed. After living in the house and working with the garden have we come to the point where we can start planning the green house and make some more real plans.

We have put sticks in the ground to get a rough size and a feeling for the height. We have also kindly got windows from my wife's sister when they did a window change on the house from the 70´s. So we have a set of windows with certain sizes to use. Now could I start in Catia V5 and move the windows around and try to get a good layout. After a few revisions do I think I nailed it. It´s a big greenhouse roughly 14 square meters and the challeng is that half of it should be dug in to the ground. This because the greenhouse is place in a slope but we get benefits also. The brick foundation will work as a heat storage magazine and prolong the season of the greenhouse.

Here is the existing design. I think it will be redone a few times more. But this is the base at least.

Here is where it should be placed on the garden.

Fallshirmjägers; The painting continues

Hello all

I am making progress on my Fallshirmjägers. I am pleased with the result so far. But I have more the half off my company left to paint and my dead line is with in one month! It feels some time that the paint will still be wet when I put them down at my first game.

But there is light in the painting tunnel because these two platoons of 10 teams each and the HQ have only taken 2½ weeks. That is 92figures and 24 bases in 2½ weeks with the family at home and 40 hours of work every week. What is left is the Fallshirmjäger Pioneers platoon, mortars, 7,5cm leig gun, pak40 platoon and four 88´s. I will start with the cleaning process on Monday and go from there. This time is it more guns and euquipment then men. There will be uploads on the process.

And here are my nearly finished core platoons. There will only be added some static grass and flock and some shrubbery. But the big time consuming steps are done. Please leave comments of what you think.

New tournament => New list (Fallshirmjägers)

Hello all again.

I have pledge myself to play in a late war Flames of War tournament in the neighboring city in 1½ months.  The tournament is themed around the months after the operation cobra or the break out from Normandy in the late summer of 1944. And the tournament is a pair tournament one side will play the Allied nations and own the Axis nations (Germany), I will as usual the Germans. This creates certain restrictions off what companies I can chose from. This time and area of the war are the Germans more and more hampered by the lack of men and material. There tanks are getting old except the formidable Panther and King tiger.

So this time it was really tricky to build a fun and themed list of what I had in my closet. So I searched on "easy army" and talked to my friends to find a solid company. My first thought was on my trusting pioneers but they lack the proper support and I have used them in a few tournaments now. I went on and looked at the various tank companies. But with the recent change of the AT value to 15 of the fire fly are the Panthers and tigers out of the question. Then I could use my StuG list but they are built for the east front and should remain there. So I had problems to choose a good and solid list that I wanted to play.
Then I got the suggestion to look in to Fallshirmjägers that though around the Market Garden operation. I loved them from first sight. They are a volunteer unit of hardcore fighting men so they are expensive in points and you will not have that many platoons. But the one you have will hope fully stay on the and not run away. I started to play around with the choice in the company and the finial rooster was with about any mobile assets but with a solid amount of anti-tank guns.  Also am I lacking normal artillery but I have mortars that can pin and smoke. The only problem now when my company rooster was set was that I do not own any models that represent Fallshirmjägers and they look different compared to normal grenadiers. This leads to myself painting a complete infantry company in 1½ months. At the moment are there 96 models getting paint on my table and I guess that I have 40models more to paint.

I have never painted splinter camouflage before and search the net to find any help. And help I found from this really good painter. Will not do it as detailed as him because I do not have the skill or the time for it. But it  is good help to understand how to proceed.

I have also some other inspiration from a painter from battle front. I want to create scenic bases and have a good spread on the uniforms sins it is late in the war and the soldiers have grabbed what they can find.

This is my progress so far. I will keep updating as is a continue painting

Garden update.

Hello all again.

I thought it is time to make a post on the garden and what have happened sins last spring.. It is nearly autumn now and we are harvesting the garden of tomatoes, zucchini and the famous "tjörn" potatoes. It is really fun to grow my own vegetables and you know that there are no pesticides or other chemicals on them.

Here are some picture of the potato field and the ploughing of it. It´s good to have a nice neighbor with a tractor.

We have also done a makeshift green house for the tomato plants. So we can have our own home grown tomatoes. It is not the prettiest but it keeps plants warm and out of the wind.

The big change is the to porch decks are completed. It makes the garden more functional and it is nice that we can release your son with out worrying that he will fall and hurt himself. It is also nice that we can enjoy the dinner and the "fika" breaks out side on either side of the house depending on the wind direction.

Here are some pictures of the porch decks and the build of them. First is the back side porch and lower is the front side porch.

First game of Malifaux thoughts.

Hello all.

I have played my first game of Malifuax this Monday with Yan Lo starter box crew against Elinor´s Kaeris and some railway worker crew at my local game store (Wizard games, Gothenburg). Because it was my first   game did we skip schemes and only had on objective, which was to  capture victory points in the centre line of the table.

Before the game have I watched some you-tube clips where they describe the elemental of Malifuax. But there where allot of things that was completely new to me and I realised that Yan Lo is not the easiest  master to start with. He has a lot of things going on for him. But I think he can be a very power full master with the right crew.

So what is my thoughts on Malifaux as a game?
I like it allot because of a number of factors but there is a high threshold for new beginners and it is maybe not the first miniature game of a person if he want to win matches early in his miniature career. But what attracts me to Malifaux is firstly the cinematic feeling of the game it flows very smooth and there is always some action going on. Second, the miniatures are gorges and relay fun/challenging to paint. Third the fluff and universe is interesting and different from allot of other games The raw nature of the universe and the all the horror creatures are interesting. Wyrd is doing a good job keeping there vision and direction straight. Fourth the card flip mechanic is nice and that you can cheat important "dice roles" and keep good cards on your hand gives Malifaux an additional level of strategy and thinking, but it also increase the luck some times on you flip. I like when there is a pretty high level of luck involved not that I have any luck but I like it.

So would I recommend this game to others; Yes! It is fast, fun and have I think the best miniatures on the market for the moment. Did I mention that it is also not that damaging for you wallet.

After my game I released that I need to expand my crew and bought a blister of Canine remains. They are on my painting table now and I am finishing the bases for them. Here is a VIP from my phone.

First time for Malifaux and Yan Lo Crew.

Hello all.

There have been a down turn in my writing because of a lot of reasons, but mostly because I have had no joy writing. But now do I have some thing I want to share with you all.

I have been searching for a new skirmish miniature game for a wile and looked at a few (Infinity, Mercs, etc.). I have a small rule that I can only start collecting and painting miniatures for a game that have a active community in my area. I also happened to win a few prices in painting contest at my local game store, I won some store credit and used it for buying Master of the Path box for Malifuax.  Malifaux is a small 32mm skirmish that have been around for a few years and it has some interesting mechanics. It is also a active community in Gothenburg which is good. I will have my first game tonight so that will be exciting. I will of coarse get my ass kicked but it is part of the learning curve.

So with no further ado. Here is my painted crew from the box.
I will comeback with a report of the game and my thoughts on Malifaux later.
